Dynamic Booking Policy for Airline Seat Inventory Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
A dynamic booking policy for multiple fare classes that share the same seating pool on one leg of an airline flight, when seats are booked in a nested fashion and when lower fare classes book before higher ones, is determined. The dynamic policy of airline booking makes repetitive use of an optimal static policy over the booking period, based on the most recent demand and capacity information. It allows one to allocate seats dynamically and anticipatory over time.

Dynamic Pricing in Airline Seat Management for Flights with Multiple Flight Legs
Consider a multiple booking class airline-seat inventory control problem that relates to either a single flight leg or to multiple flight legs. During the time before the flight, the airline may face the problems of (1) what are the suitable prices for the opened booking classes, and (2) when to close those opened booking classes. This work deals with these two problems by only using the pricin...
متن کاملStochastic Programming for Multiple-Leg Network Revenue Management
Airline seat inventory control is a very profitable tool in the airline industry. Mathematical programming models provide booking limits or bid-prices for all itineraries and fare classes based on demand forecasts. But the actual revenue generated in the booking process fails to meet expectations. Simple deterministic models based on expected demand generate better revenue than more advanced pr...
متن کاملAIRLINE STOCHASTIC CAPACITY ALLOCATION BY APPLYING REVENUE MANAGEMENT
To formulate a single-leg seat inventory control problem in an airline ticket sales system, the concept and techniques of revenue management are applied in this research. In this model, it is assumed the cabin capacity is stochastic and hence its exact size cannot be forecasted in advance, at the time of planning. There are two groups of early-reserving and late-purchasing customers demanding t...

The problem of adaptive stochastic airline seat inventory control lies at the heart of airline revenue management. This problem concerns the allocation of the finite seat inventory to the stochastic customer demand that occurs over time before the flight is scheduled to depart. The objective is to find the right combination of customers of various fare classes on the flight such that revenue is...
متن کاملA Lagrangian relaxation approach for network inventory control of stochastic revenue management with perishable commodities
Airline seat inventory control is the allocation of seats in the same cabin to different fare classes such that the total revenue is maximized. Seat allocation can be modelled as dynamic stochastic programs, which are computationally intractable in network settings. Deterministic and probabilistic mathematical programming models are therefore used to approximate dynamic stochastic programs. The...
